The process of internationalization of the Calabrian economic-productive system inevitably requires the development and increase of multi-sector actions: from the export of products to the attraction of investment and human capital.
However, the strong delay with which the Calabria system moves makes it essential to combine these activities with operations of accompaniment, education and training to internationalization, providing interventions capable of increasing the improvement of the ability of companies to build innovative relationships and relationships with foreign partners and meet – especially in qualitative terms – the needs and demands of the international market.
Hence the proposal of the Calabrian Institute of International Policies to promote a series of international initiatives aimed at contributing to the development of the economic, productive, cultural and educational system of the regional system.
In this sense, the Institute involves all the production sectors of the Calabrian economic system, relaunching a new image of Calabria and its production system in the international arena.
The growing strategic importance of the phenomenon of internationalization of regional economies and societies is a determining element in the growth prospects of a given territory.
The term “internationalization”, however, has assumed, especially in recent years, an increasingly broad and pervasive meaning: in addition to the usual and traditional phenomena of commercial exchange of goods and services or international investment activities of companies, play an increasingly important role also the relationships inherent to other factors of production that are increasingly recognized as the basis of economic and social development such as, for example, the flows of human capital, knowledge and nature of international institutional relations (eg through twinning, internships, language training or development cooperation).
It is precisely from the need to combine economic and business development initiatives with initiatives and activities of international cooperation between countries, the enhancement of local cultures and human capital that IsCaPI’s proposal was born, oriented towards the promotion of a “Calabria package” throughout the world.
