The project aimed at Calabrians living abroad, aims to help consolidate the spirit of identity and belonging to the Italian and regional cultural roots.

Organized by Is.Ca.P.I. in collaboration with the Association I Borghi più Belli d’Italia in Calabria, the Department of Humanistic Studies and the Department of Business and Legal Sciences of the University of Calabria and ANAV – Calabria Section, the project benefits from the contribution of the members of the Council of Calabrians Abroad and the adhesion of several Trade Associations of the regional productive fabric, as well as the patronage of ANCI Calabria and the Pollino National Park.

Realized through a wide-ranging action of territorial and international consensus among the various parties involved, the project aims to create a network that can foster circular cultural and economic cooperation among Calabrians in Italy and abroad while conveying the positive image of Calabria in the world.

The Project is divided into two stages: one in Italy and one abroad. In Italy from September 5 to October 3, 2019, twenty young people from eight foreign countries will participate in a traveling Italian language and culture course on a bus in the most beautiful villages of Calabria.

The students , chosen in collaboration with the Calabrian Consultants Abroad, will stop in 20 different Calabrian villages to discover the regional cultural, tourist and productive heritage that contributes to the creation of a positive image of Calabria.

During the itinerary, students will meet with representatives of institutions, entities and successful entrepreneurs in Calabria, involving public and private entities, universities and businesses in a series of events, meetings, conferences, interviews and in-depth studies.

The 28-day event will be the subject of a documentary film narrating the experience.

Abroad, in 2020, the Calabria School Project will be developed in a series of events carried out in the students’ countries of origin, organized in collaboration with the Consultants involved in the initiative, Calabrian associations and the participating Italian Chambers of Commerce, during which the docufilm and thematic appointments will be organized on territorial marketing aimed at opportunities for the development of return tourism in Calabria and related economies.

The presentation event, moderated by storyteller Piero Muscari, will be attended by, among others, the President of the Region of Calabria Hon. Oliverio, Hon. Orlandino Greco, representatives of the Department of Humanistic Studies of the University of Calabria, mayors of the municipalities participating in the initiative and representatives of trade associations that have intended to support the event.
